The Millstone asked each candidate for his or her personal vision for this riding - that is what they would do here if elected. Here is Family Coalition Party candidate Cynthia Bredfeldt's response.
It has been a pleasure getting to know our Riding better and the fantastic people that I have met over the past month.
Thank you to organizations such as the Canadian Federation of University Women and the Mills Community Support Program for providing their concerns on the many issues that they face. I encourage other organizations to do likewise and share your concerns. We are here to listen and to help. The Family Coalition Party website www.familycoaltionparty.com has a detailed outline of the party and offers intelligent and responsible solutions to many of today’s problems. Many of the issues that our important to our community are addressed here. One of the main thrusts of the Family Coalition Party is to bring back the importance of the local community instead of relying on big government that is distant and does not understand our concerns. I want to build a sense of community in CMM.
I personally would commit to donating at least one percent of my salary back into the CMM community to assist NFP organizations that are providing beneficial community support services.
Mr. Lilley tells the story of Don Smith who needed a new wheelchair. Government funding was removed for this necessity and he was told he had to raise money himself. Here’s the link to this beautiful story: http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/search/all/ending-entitlements/1113435750001 Building a sense of Community! Wouldn't it be wonderful to build this kind of caring Community in Carleton-Mississippi Mills and be an exemplary model to the rest of the Province!
In the briefing notes provided by the Mills Community Support Services, they related how Alzheimer's education is critical for prevention. I would also use this newsletter to inform the residents in Carleton-Mississippi Mills about these kinds of important health issues.
I would also establish an informative, dynamic website that would be interactive with the community. Perhaps there could be a Community Forum where residents could discuss issues they are experiencing in the community and problem solve using our combined skills, knowledge and resources to provide made in CMM solutions. Residents could vote online on local area issues.
In conclusion, I would be honoured to be your representative at Queen’s Park and granted the opportunity would work tirelessly to build a bright future for our families together.
If you don't have time to show up at all candidates meetings and meet with your constituency why bother even running???
